Netflix’s 2022 Geeked Week has revealed more information about the streaming platform’s live-action adaptation of One Piece. While we weren’t shown a trailer, Netflix did show us the series’ elaborate sets and added six new members to the cast.
Iñaki Godoy, who will play Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action adaptation, along with showrunners Steve Maeda and Matt Owens showed us footage of the massive sets that will be used for filming One Piece. The shooting is taking place in South Africa and the sets show us that Netflix is determined to make the adaptation look as accurate as possible.
In the behind-the-scenes video, three ships including The Going Merry, Miss Love Duck, and Baratie were revealed. Concept art was also shown to visualise what the final product would look like.
All of this news and updates about the One Piece series has fans hyped up, but many were expecting an actual trailer for the show. Many fans were expressing on the Geeked Week’s live chat and the event’s official Twitter account that they wanted a first look at the show. But when Netflix has nothing to offer of the sort, it led to disappointment among the fandom.
