Meta’s dual-camera smartwatch, which has been leaking for the past year, has been placed on hold. Also, Meta has decided to focus on other wearables instead. A suspected picture of the watch was discovered inside an app for Ray-Ban Storie’s smart glasses in October. The picture revealed a square-but-rounded-edged wearable with a notch and a front-facing camera, as first revealed by Bloomberg.
The watch was also known as Milan in the code, but the press christened it the Meta Watch. Meta was also said to be working on a wristwatch with a five-megapixel camera on the watch face and a 12-megapixel camera on the back last summer.
Meta’s cancelled smartwatch looks like it defeats the purpose of having a smartwatch in the first place. But yeah, it might be helpful to have a 12 MP camera on the rear side + 5 MP camera on the front side of the watch in rare situations… And best of all, it has a notch! pic.twitter.com/csZRApxBMO
