The Laval Rocket will have to be tougher, smarter — and possibly bigger — in Game 4 of their Calder Cup Eastern Conference final against the Springfield Thunderbirds at Place Bell on Friday (7 p.m., RDS, TSN 690 Radio, 98.5 FM).
The Thunderbirds spoiled the Rocket’s return to a sold-out Place Bell Wednesday, employing a physical style to hammer out a 6-3 win to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
“If you look at the scoresheet, our smaller players didn’t do very well tonight,” said Rocket coach Jean-François Houle. “We will have to play with more aggressiveness.”
While Houle didn’t mention any names, Jesse Ylönen was minus-5, Jean-Sébastien Dea was minus-4 and defenceman Xavier Ouellet was minus-3. Rafaël Harvey-Pinard was also minus-3, but he scored a goal and was involved.
