Samuel reportedly requested a trade from the 49ers in March. While he has been linked with teams such as the New York Jets, the 49ers have remained stern in their ambition to keep him on the roster for the 2022 season.
Many have taken a side in this dilemma between Samuel and the 49ers. For Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens, he continues to issue his support to the one-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.
The former 49ers wideout once again made public remarks backing Samuel. At the annual Dwight Clark Legacy Series event this past week, Owens added that the all-around wideout is simply in an “unfortunate” situation.
“Obviously it’s unfortunate for him to be in the situation he’s in right now, with management,” Owens said. “But you see an explosive playmaker. You see a player that makes plays anywhere on the field. Those types of players are hard to come by.
