Maguire named in England squad

The centre-back, who was a key part of Gareth Southgate’s side that reached the European Championship final last year, has been selected in advance of four games in June, two of which come against Hungary (away on 4 June, home on 14 June).

Maguire is the sole United representative in the squad but a number of other Reds will feature in the tournament, including France’s Raphael Varane and Scotland stalwart Scott McTominay, who also has the World Cup play-offs to look forward to.

Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo have all been named in Portugal’s 25-man party as they strive to lift the trophy for the second time, following their triumph in 2019.

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Coady (Wolves), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Reece James (Chelsea), James Justin (Leicester City), Harry Maguire (United), John Stones (Manchester City), Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Ben White (Arsenal).
