Break the stigma of men's mental health

“The stigma of mental illness can be fatal in areas traditionally dominated by men. Historically, heavy manufacturing and construction sites around the world have made workers safe about their problems. It was never perceived as an environment for heart-to-heart discussion, “said Avetta, a leading supplier of supply chain management software, in a new white paper.

This is dangerous because lack of openness and support can lead to catastrophic events. For example, in the United States, the suicide rate in the construction sector is 53 per 100,000, which is four times the general population (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Similar statistics can be found in Europe, Australia and other parts of the world. “This problem is not specific to a particular region, and almost two-thirds of the world’s suicides are completed by men,” says Avetta.

Stressors can be present in any workplace, and many studies show that workers in an industrial environment are just as prone to mental health problems as any other profession.
