After a slow start to the season and a battle with COVID-19, Blue Jays utility player Cavan Biggio is being recalled from AAA Buffalo and will be joining the club in Los Angeles as they take on the Angels in a four-game series this weekend.

Biggio started the year with just one hit through 23 at-bats while splitting time at first base, second base, and right field before he went on the COVID-19 IL. Once he was eligible to return, the club decided to option him down to the Bisons roster (he was already there rehabbing) to get back into game shape and get some regular playing time, as Santiago Espinal has emerged as one of the top players on the team this season at second base.

Down in Buffalo, Biggio got his groove back, authoring a .841 OPS through 10 games while adding three doubles, three RBI, and walking more than he struck out (10 vs. 6 respectively). With him seeming to be in a better state of mind and putting the ball in play down in AAA, the Jays brass decided to option down bench player Vinny Capra as a corresponding move to make room for Biggio on the roster.
